Ian graduated from Leeds Metropolitan University with a Ba (Hons) in Graphic Arts and Design. He then gained significant experience and expertise designing for the greeting industry for companies such as 'Tigerprint' and 'UK Greetings' before recently becoming freelance. Ian explains "I had aspirations to explore new opportunities, meet new clients and push myself as a designer to that next stage of my career. I needed my work to be seen and appreciated by a wider audience." Sourced ABSPD. His company 'Ian Dutton Designs' now creates inspirational designs for the greetings, fashion and textile industry throughout the UK, Europe and United States.
I love the quirkiness of Ian's designs; the fun characters combined with fresh colour palettes, interesting textural qualities and simple patterns results in distinctive and stunning designs. I believe his attention to detail is what makes him stand out from the crowd. Ian has clearly got a very successful design career ahead of him and I can't wait to see what new creations he will design next.

Ian is one of the esteemed contributors for the The Art & Business of Surface Pattern Design e-course, run by the very talented Rachael Taylor and Beth Nicholls where you can view Ian's 'Two Week Diary' and 'Top Design Tips'.
