Hannah Werning's Fascination with Pattern

Hanna Werning is a contemporary graphic designer and illustrator who creates innovative and layered surface pattern designs. I first fell in love with her work when I received one on her Paperchase postcards from a friend.

Hanna was born in Sweden and trained as graphic designer at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, London. After returning to Sweden she began working independently and opened up her own Spring Street Studio. Hanna designs for some leading interior design companies and her designs can be seen across a wide range of products including greeting cards, stationary, wallpaper and many more.

Hanna Werning's unique work incorporates a fresh, exciting colour palette with exotic imagery and stylised shapes showing inspiration from both flora and fauna. Hanna's illustrations show winding vines and decorative florals intertwined with quirky imagery of which includes deer, parrots, kangaroos and ducks to name but a few. "I unite shapes and figures that don’t necessarily belong together, but which all attract me." Sourced Hanna Werning
