Today's book feature was an unexpected and excellent find in a discount book shop. I was initially drawn to the aged and decorative effects on the front cover and was instantly amazed as soon as I turned the first page.
This creatively presented scrapbook contains a personal selection of actual letters written to Lady Cottington including letters by William Shakespeare, Oscar Wilde and Queen Victoria. The scrapbook also contains valentines letters, calling cards, envelopes and invitations, most of which are stuck down by various squashed watercolour fairies in all sorts of interesting poses.
The illustrations throughout are charming and funny, some of the little fairies are very pretty and others can be seen pulling faces as they were squished. The fairies are said to have also played their own part by sprinkling magic and mayhem throughout.
I love how you don't know what to expect when you turn the page, there are things that fold out and open up along with beautiful hand written writing, ink splats, drips and delicate pressed flowers. Take a peek!
