Emerging Design Talent: Claire Leggett

Today I am introducing new and emerging design talent which will become a regular addition to Creative Sketchbook:

Claire Leggett is a painter and surface pattern designer based in Birmingham, West Midlands, UK. Claire originally studied Printed Textile Design and has a background in teaching. Claire's interesting painted compositions that combine teapots, china mugs, tape measures, cottons reels, lace and buttons combined with patterned wallpapers and fabrics make her work really unique.

I love the beautiful effect of Claire's colourful, hand-painted, gouache studies on rough textured paper. She creates delicate studies and patterns inspired by painterly lines and watercolour textures. " I love to capture colour and texture which celebrate through domestic objects such as crockery and natural objects and flowers. These paintings feed my inspiration and ideas for surface pattern designs."

Claire is currently a student embarking on the groundbreaking e-course 'The Art & Business of Surface Pattern Design'. The inspirational course is co founded by the very talented surface pattern designer (and close friend of mine) Rachael Taylor entrepreneur Beth Nicholls.
