Emerging Design Talent: Phyllida Coroneo

Today I am introducing new and emerging design talent which will become a regular addition to Creative Sketchbook:

Phyllida Coroneo graduated from Central St Martins College of Art and Design, London with a BA (Hons) in Fashion. She has had a successful career in Interior Design spanning 15 years and is now returning to her roots in textile design.

Phyllida describes her style as 'Modern Bohemia'. "I love to mix it all up. I am inspired by the symmetry and simplicity of ethnic designs combined with elaborate bohemian and vintage florals. My starting point is always colour as I have researched colour palettes for many years." I love the feminine colour palette and naturally inspired imagery incorporated in Phyllida's designs. Her work is delicate and has a hand-drawn sketched style that is refreshing and modern.

After sourcing and surrounding herself with wonderful patterns for so long, Phyllida decided it was time to create her own. Phyllida is currently a student embarking on the groundbreaking e-course 'The Art & Business of Surface Pattern Design'. The inspirational course is co founded by the very talented surface pattern designer (and close friend of mine) Rachael Taylor entrepreneur Beth Nicholls.
