Emerging Design Talent: Rosie Martinez-Dekker

Today I am introducing new and emerging design talent which will become a regular addition to Creative Sketchbook:

Rosie Martinez-Dekker is a Mexican designer based in The Netherlands and creates intruiging surface pattern designs. Rosie discovered her love and passion for textile design after studying for a (BA hons) in Graphic and Textile Design. After graduating, Rosie worked in Mexico for several years for a range different textile companies as a textile designer and art director. Studying for a post graduate Business degree increased Rosie’s business knowledge within the design industry and led her to establish the ‘Believe Creative Studio’ with her Husband.

Rosie is greatly inspired by colour, nature and emotion and she tries to incorporate historical elements within her surface pattern designs. I love that Rosie artistically combines hand drawn and painted elements digitally to create contemporary designs. The fun childlike qualities of her work add a freshness and naive quality which giver her work individuality.

Rosie is currently a student embarking on the groundbreaking e-course 'The Art & Business of Surface Pattern Design'. The inspirational course is co founded by the very talented surface pattern designer (and close friend of mine) Rachael Taylor entrepreneur Beth Nicholls.
