Poppy takes inspiration from the simplicity of everyday and the beauty of the natural environment that surrounds her. Her aim is to "make what we see everyday interesting and quirky and with a sense of humour and fun," and she certainly achieves this.
I love Poppy's creative approach to typography, she transforms simple lettering in to beautiful illustrations that she floods with washes of fresh candy like colours. "I am often influenced by nostalgia and colourful prints of eras such as the 50's."
Poppy achieves the unique style to her work by drawing initial designs by hand, this hand-crafted and slightly rustic feel is then transformed into fresh, original illustrations. "I take initial ideas from vintage children's books, old dictionary's and bird spotting books, these are my favourite source of interesting illustrations, layouts and colours. "
