Johanna Bashford's Magnificent Monochrome Masterpieces!

I do apologise for my absence. I have been meaning to share the fabulous work of Johanna Basford with you for ages! Her black and white monochrome materpieces amaze me! "Tumble down the rabbit hole and find yourself in my inky black and white Wonderland..." Sourced

Johanna studied Printed Textiles at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design in Dundee and shortly after set up her own creative studio to begin her illustrative freelance career.

It is clear nature is a rich source of imagery for Johanna, she takes delicate inspiration from the flora and fauna that surrounded her growing up as a child in rural Scotland. "My creativity is cultivated by a curious imagination and a delight in the fantastic." Sourced Every design is painstainkingly hand drawn in pencil and then her beautiful detailed linework is added with ink. Drawing by hand is personally very important to Johanna, she loves the natural wobblyness of lines, finger prints and smudges that add an originality to her designs.

"My delicate hand inked designs intend to charm and delight, inviting you to peer closer and discover the hidden intricacies." Sourced
