Abigail Doan's Textural Textile Sculptures

I thought I would showcase the mixed-media creations of Abigail Doan with you today. I originally spotted her unusual and intriguing work when I was browsing for sea-life inspirations. Her creative textiles pieces instantly reminded me of clusters of sea urchins and coral from the underwater world.

Abigail is know as a fiber artist who explores the unique textural qualities of the wide range of materials she uses. Recycled materials she uses include wool, threads, scraps, dried vegetation and botanical elements. "These tactile bundles are meant to demonstrate why all resources are precious and how the selection of common/waste materials might illustrate both fragility, resilience, and unexpected solutions."
