Daniel Zeller's Imagination and Extreme Magnification

Today I am sharing the work of the contemporary and abstract artist Daniel Zeller with you. I was instantly captivated by the fluid and spontaneous nature of his work and was intrigued to explore it further.

The ideas behind Daniel's weird and wonderful artwork are "borrowed from many places, among them satellite images, electron micro-graphs, topographical maps, anatomical and schematic diagrams." Sourced Zeller

Mixed-Media Journal Creations by Teesha Moore

Today is a little more quirky than my usual choice of artist and designer. I was introduced to the weird and wonderful work of Teesha Moore by one of my students. I was instantly captivated by the bright colours, unique compositions and inspirational quotes Teesha amazingly swirls and merges together in her mixed-media collages. Teesha describes herself as a 'visual journal artist' and lives her creative life surrounded by hills, pastures and trees.

"My inspiration has always been music and graphic design. I collect children's books, design books, art books, cookbooks, quote books, etc. All these images and ideas are constantly going in through my brain, getting jumbled together and come out through my hands as art. It's a fun process and keeps me excited about life and everything else." Sourced

Yulia Brodskaya's Unbelievable Quilled Marvels

I could not resist sharing the work of Yulia Brodskaya with you today. As soon as I spotted her amazing work I was whisked back to my childhood and all the wonderful paper creations I tried to create myself. Yulia takes any form of quilling I have seen to a whole new level, the detail, the shapes and patterns explores take my break away. I think it can certainly be said her work is a labour of love. I find her inspirational quotes and swirling rich colours mesmerising.

Yulia is a paper artist and illustrator, originally from Moscow, Russia, who has clearly perfected her skill. "I believe that one of the main reasons I enjoy the paper craft, is due to my love of the material: paper. Although I've always had a special fascination for paper, it has taken me a while to find my own way of working with it."

"Now I draw with paper instead of on it" Sourced

Angela Staehling's Beautiful Botanical Garden

I was delighted when I stumbled across the delicate botanical paintings of Angela Satehling. Her beautiful compositions of a pretty everyday life include little wooden birdhouses, wild herbs and stunning flowers. Scripted French writing, surface pattern designs and vintage stamps decorate her garden inspired scenes. "Each new season inspires fresh color palettes, organic textures, and whimsical patterns."  I love the soft, natural tones and interesting textural qualities Angela uses in her work. Her studies also incorporate wild vegetables, sea-life scenes in vintage collaged creations. It is clear from her work that travelling inspires her work. "Angela delights in bringing the outdoors “in” and incorporating these findings into studies for her artwork. " Sourced

Swirling Patterns and Woodland Creations by Galia Bernstein

Today I am sharing the work of Galia Bernstein, a very talented and creative Israeli graphic designer. This first design is my favourite, it's like a swirling magical woodland dream. The closer and longer you look, the more little creatures and  beautiful patterns you discover.

Her simplistic folk like designs are fun and playful, they would make the perfect print for a child's bedroom. Galia has a real eye for colour and selects quirky, earthy colours that complement each other beautifully.

Galia works as a full-time illustrator and part-time textile designer. The strong Scandinavian folk art influence in her work is clear from her strong, smooth lines and organic shapes.

Abigail Doan's Textural Textile Sculptures

I thought I would showcase the mixed-media creations of Abigail Doan with you today. I originally spotted her unusual and intriguing work when I was browsing for sea-life inspirations. Her creative textiles pieces instantly reminded me of clusters of sea urchins and coral from the underwater world.

Abigail is know as a fiber artist who explores the unique textural qualities of the wide range of materials she uses. Recycled materials she uses include wool, threads, scraps, dried vegetation and botanical elements. "These tactile bundles are meant to demonstrate why all resources are precious and how the selection of common/waste materials might illustrate both fragility, resilience, and unexpected solutions."
